Best Indian cuisine in a unique Art Deco setting
We source all of our fish, meat, poultry, herbs and vegetables locally. Our delicious dishes are cooked to order with passion by our chefs who want you to enjoy the finest cuisine and their attention to detail. Our cooking methods are carefully adopted and all of our meat is grilled, barbequed or steamed.
We are passionate about our food provenance and wherever possible buy from local sources and suppliers. For example our fish comes from Gourdon, our meat from the Cairngorms and we are proud to have Six Degrees North as one of our drink suppliers. We even grow our own herbs in the restaurants own herb garden.
Our menu is a mix of traditional and contemporary, with most main dishes available with a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian.
Sit back, relax and enjoy your surroundings and allow us the time to present you with the finest of dishes.
Mumbai has some of the finest Art Deco buildings globally
Mumbai - regarded as the centre of the Bollywood film industry in India, it was one of the major seaports on the Arabian Sea and as a result became one of the wealthiest cities in India. Less well known is that second to Miami, Mumbai has the greatest number of Art Deco buildings of any city globally. Hence it was only natural that the Carron would become Carron to Mumbai.
Retaining all of the original art deco features of the Carron Tea Room, Carron to Mumbai serves modern Indian inspired dishes in a chic environment.
Come on a Journey with us!
Entering from Evan Street, you are greeted by a colonial style room where pre-dinner drinks are served. With more than a nod to the 1920s and the golden era of travel, the immaculately dressed and knowledgeable bar staff will serve a wide range of premium wines, beers and spirits. With close to 50 different gins to choose from, many from local providers, you will be spoilt for choice.
Between the bar and the Mumbai Dining Room is the Maharaja Express. This faithfully reproduces the atmosphere of a luxury railway dining carriage speeding across India. With views of Calcutta and the Ganges you will feel as if you have been transported back in time to the India of the 1930's.
As you step from the Maharaja Express, you enter our justly famous, grade 2 listed, art deco restaurant. Retaining all of the period art deco features from the Picasso mirror to the trade mark deco bow front window, this light and airy room is a delightful space to eat and socialise.
Would definitely recommend going for a meal here. The food was amazing,
staff were all so professional and helpful, and the place itself looks great.
I'll be going
back for a meal and cocktails soon!

Service and meals were excellent. The lounge and the restaurant are designed in an authentic stylish manner that makes the restaurant the best in Stonehaven and felt like we were in a high end restaurant in a trendy city! Well done
